Lecturer from the Faculty of Medicine invited to be International Journal Editor

 

 

 

Associate Professor Dr. Banchob Sripa, a lecturer from the department of Pathology, was invited as an expert to the “The First Forum on Surveillance Response System Leading to Tropical Diseases Elimination” at Zieng Hai, China, between June 16 – 17, 2012. He has also been invited to be an editor of Infectious Diseases leading to Poverty for the BioMed Central (BMC) journal.

Dr. Banchob had been an Associate Editor of the international journal PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases (Impact factor 4.716), top journal on tropical medicine (Journal Citation Reports, ISI 2011) since 2007. Dr. Banchob is highly regarded researcher and academician who also sits on the Tropical Diseases.

KKU medical staff: international research publication

The high quality of research work among clinical staff at the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, Thailand, has again been recognized by a leading international publication:  the Asian Pacific Journal of Allergy Immunology 2012.

Professor Anthony McLean from the University of Sydney visited Faculty of Medicine

July 10, 2012, Professor Anthony McLean, Head of discipline of Intensive Care Medicine of the Medical School of the University of Sydney, visited MICU of the Princess Mother Memmorial Tower and CCU of the Queen Sirikit Heart Center. He also gave the lecture on the topic “Roles of echocardiography in the critically ill” at the Queen Sirikit Heart Center. For the visiting, Associate Professor Witoon Prasertcharoensuk, Associate Dean for International and Special Affairs, and Associate Professor Boonsong Patjanasoontorn, Associate Professor of Medicine, gave the warmest welcomes to Professor’s coming and the meeting.

EN meets with two sub-districts, Sila and Ban Ped to launch academic services to the community

With a policy to transfer bodies of knowledge to the community for optimal social benefits, the Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University made an appointment to meet two big sub-districts in Muang District, i.e., Sila and Ban Ped. The meeting was on ways to develop the community in various aspects such as the environment, garbage disposal, flooding, other physical problems and traffic system. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ratchaphon Santivarakorn, the Deputy Dean in Planning and Information led another 7 team members to discuss the said topics with the president of the Sila’s Tambon Administration Organization on May 16, 2012 and the president of Ban Ped Sub-district Municipality on May 17, 2012. The occasion marked the beginning of the fiscal year 2012 when the Faculty of Engineering will cooperate with community leaders in applying bodies of knowledge to effectively improve and develop the community. 
The Engineering Journal is certified by Thai Citation Index Center (TCI)

The Engineering Journal, which is published by the Faculty of Engineering and listed in the database of the Thai Citation Index Center (TCI) has been evaluated and has passed the criterion needed to enter the TCI’s first category. The Thai Citation Index Center (TCI) classifies journals into 3 groups:  

The first journal group: Journals that have been approved of the quality for 3 years until December 2014 and are under the TCI’s database, which will be selected towards the database of ASEAN Citation Index (ACI). The second journal group: Journals that are under quality improvement and the TCI’s database.  The third journal group: Journals that have not passed the TCI’s criteria and may not be under the TCI’s database in the future. 
     
The Engineering Journal’s achievement is another successful step in showing that it can produce quality research worthy of dissemination in Thailand and abroad.

Faculty of Engineering welcomes Director of Information and Society Research Division, Japan

On March 26, 2012, the Faculty’s administrators, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somnuk Theerakulpisut, the Dean, Dr. Nararat Ruangchaijatuporn, Assistant to the Dean in Student Development welcomed Prof. Dr. Noboru Sonehara, Director of Information and Society Research Division, National Institute of Informatics, Japan.  Prof. Sonehara came to propose academic collaboration with the Faculty on student and staff exchanges in order to enhance learning in academic, culture and research.  

Prof. Sonehara is an expert in digital commerce system who has performed a lot of research work and is well renowned. At the international conference KKU-IENC 2012 held on May 10-11, 2012, Prof. Sonehara was an invited speaker who presented his work on “Web Data Driven Information Flow in the Integrated Cyber-Physical Society”.
