Engineering Lecturers Invited by the Department of Information Technology and Space, Ministry of Defense, to Present Research Work and Receive Research Support


On June 21, 2011, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nantakan Wongkasem from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sununtha Kingpaiboon, Associate Dean for Research and International Relations were invited to present research work at the Department of Information Technology and Space, Ministry of Defense.  Asst. Prof. Dr. Nantakan Wongkasem gave a special lecture on “Metamaterials and Applications,” which are the applications of synthesized electromagnetic materials in information technology where stability and safety of information communication is emphasized.
Examples are production of coating materials to obtain an invisible material, control of information transmission in communication equipment, design of communication equipment within a required frequency range, building of materials that protect against electromagnetic wave within the specific frequency ranges. Besides, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nantakan presented preliminary design inventions from her research work with some graduate students of the Department of Electrical Engineering. The presentation obtained a lot of interest and will be granted research support in the near future. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sununtha gave final conclusion related to the Faculty’s policy for research support which should be on usable and practicable inventions including development of equipment and tools for governmental organizations that will strengthen the advancement of the country.
