National Applied Arts show at KKU
The 57th National Applied Arts Show is currently being held at Khon Kaen University and runs through until December 29, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Show offers the general public a chance to learn about fine and applies arts when KKU, Silpakorn University and the Department of Fine Arts present more than 100 pieces of modern applied arts drawn from national contests.
The official opening ceremony of the arts show was held on December 16 by Khon Kaen Deputy Governor Thanawat Ploysophon, who was accompanied by guests of honor.
The Deputy Governor said in the opening ceremony that this exhibition showed the cooperation among the arts institutes to show off Thai applied arts, encouraging artists to work further in the applied arts. Dr. Promporn Sirikulchayanond, Deputy Director of the Arts Center, Silapakorn University added that this show was initiated by Prof. Silp Peerasri, in cooperation with Department of Fine Arts, and also Thai artists to help stimulate modern applied arts among the general public so that they could understand more about it, then they can help further develop more arts.
Although the National Applied Arts show celebrated its 57th anniversary, it has actually been held for more than 62 years and was started by Prof Silp Peerasri to promote competition among the artists to create more arts work and upgrade their work to be at the international standard
