In keeping with the Thai New Year, or Songkran festival during, 13-15 April 2012, Khon Kaen University International College observed Thai tradition by conducting the “KKUIC Songkran Day 2012” for KKUIC faculty, staff and students on 12 April 2012 on the 9th floor of the Information Building. The purpose of this event was to preserve the Songkran tradition and to give the KKKUIC members an opportunity to learn and understand more about Songkran. The beautifully decorated Buddha image tray was put on display all day long for the purpose of being bathed with incense water. One of the important activities observed was pouring water onto the hands of the KKUIC management and faculty by the students and young staff, and asking the blessing of their elders. This observance is called “Rod nam dum hua.” There were many faculty, staff, and students who joined this event before the real days of Songkran.
