Artists Committee on Isaan Arts and culture meets

The Regional Artist Network (Northeast) held their 2nd committee meeting among members on May 11, 2012 and discussed sustainable development of Isaan arts and culture. The meeting was led by Dr. Wichai Chokwiwat, the Vice President of the Isaan Artist Network.

Ajarn Nonthiwat Chantanapalin and artist Chaweewan  Damnoen, who were there on behalf of the network advisory Dr. Danai Wangboonchai, together with the Secretary- General of the Network Asst. Prof. Songwit Pimpakan, Director of the Office of Culture, KKU and Sumalee Suwannakorn as the sub- committee chairperson of the Network.  Members of the arts and culture networks from various regions of the countryalso attended the meeting held at the Office of Culture, KKU.

The meeting was held with the aim of exchanging ideas and suggestions about working on the arts and culture development issues and local projects to be set up in provinces of the Isaan region, especially in the pilot provinces of Surin and Nongbua Lamphu.  Both provinces have created a lot of activities in arts and cultural work as well as educational systems among the local people.

The committee members also discussed the possibilities of proposing a law to help promote artists, and set up the funds for helping assist the artists in the Northeastern region. They believe that investment in culture could help create more social equality and sustainable development projects.
