Visakha Bucha Day at Khon Kaen (kku news 262)

This year the Visakha Bucha Day festival will celebrate 2,600 years of the Lord Buddha’s enlightenment. Khon Kaen Provincial authorities, the Khon Kaen Municipality and Khon Kaen University announced Visakha Bucha Day activities from May 29 to June 4, 2012 to be held at the Khon Kaen City Hall.

On May 29 from 1.30 p.m. onwards,  there will be a parade carrying the Lord Buddha’s relics from Wat Thart near Kaen Nakhon reservoir to the ceremonial place held at Khon Kaen City Hall.

From 7 p.m. onwards there will be arts and culture performances reflecting Buddhist values and showing the beauty of the dramatic arts, dances and music by Khon Kaen University.

There will be 7 days and nights of performances, separated into three categories; worship practice, academics and art and culture preservation that will reflect the diversity of the audience.
