Agriculture students in AEC seminar Students from the Student Union of the Faculty of Agriculture, Khon Kaen University, took part in a seminar and exchange program with Lao students to prepare for the upcoming ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015.
The Student Affairs Division of the Faculty of Agriculture organized these events to boost understanding and knowledge management of all affairs run by the working committee of the Student’s Union.
The program gives students the chance to learn more about the AEC as well as participate in culture exchange with Lao students. The seminar took place May 7-9, 2012 at the meeting room of the Agriculture Faculty and was followed by a study visit to the Faculty of Agriculture at the Nabong Campus at the National University of Laos.
The seminar on May 7 helped the working committee of the Student Union to develop understanding and set up guidelines for their management to be in line with development following their graduation. The seminar was led byAssoc. Prof. Dr. Anant Polthanee, theDean of the Faculty of Agriculture, KKU who presided over theOpening Ceremony.
Guest speakers were led by Asst .Prof. Dr. Summana Neera, the Deputy Dean for Academics, who spoke on the quality assurance and student development,Nathapol Puangkhot of Students Affairs, KKU, on integrated activities organizing, Asst. Prof. PitcharatSaenchaisuriya, a lecturerin animal husbandry science and with the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Agriculture , KKU spoke on student activities, and graduate development, Mrs. Chutiporn Chompusawang of Finance and Materials work with theFaculty of Agriculturespoke on paymentapprovalsfor students activity projects and Asst. Prof. Dr. Poramet Bantoeng, Deputy Dean for Student Affairs spoke on past and current student activities.
Apart from these lectures, there were ideas mobilizations between lectures for the working committee of the Student Union and seniorstudents to exchange learning and guidelines on planned activities along with master planning for student activities, of the Faculty for this year semester.
On May 8, about53 lecturers,staff andstudents from the Faculty of Agriculture visited the Faculty of Agriculture Nabong Campus, National University of Laos.Assoc. Prof.SomphanhPasouvang, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, lecturers, staff and students were on hand to welcome the Thai visitors for the exchange program and activities on culture and sports.
The group then visited theSengsavangPhanPla fishing Farm, the biggest farm in Laos, which featuresfish farming, management and is a learning resource for students and the general publicon inland fisheries.
Assoc. Prof. SomphanhPasouvang said that this is a good project tocreategood relations under the MoU signed between the Faculty of Agriculture, KKU and the Lao Univeristy and that it is expected to help develop students and staff so as that that they could learn more about culture from each other.
The Faculty of Agriculture, Laos also received assistances on academics and researche from KKUto help the University step forward to the AEC in 2015.
