Civil Engineering student receives research grant from Japan Jessada Khampong, a student in the Engineering Faculty studying for a Bachelor’sDegree in Civil Engineering, and the Civil Engineering Faculty received grant funding to research alongwith Nihon University, Japan on the topic, “An Evaluation of Traffic System Management at Kangsadarn 5-Leg Intersection beside Khon Kaen University by Using Traffic Simulation.” This researchprojecttook a month to complete, beginning on March 25 and finishing on April 12, 2012. The project research was to evaluate the traffic system and management in the Kangsadarn area, a point where 5 roads connect to each other and a source of serious traffic congestion due to the poor flow of traffic. Student research was commissioned to evaluate the traffic management systems to improve the congestion and quality of life for both KKU and nearby communities. Jessada said that as the project only took a short time, the solutions may not be comprehensive enough to cover all areas. However, he noted that he hoped his project would be developed further for the benefit of the country. In Japan, he took the opportunity to thank his advisor Asst. Prof. Dr. ThanateSatiennamand all the lecturers that helped by giving advice as well aslecturers and friends at Nihon University that offered their time and energy for his training course, and to teachhim about Japanese culture. “If I have a chance, I will come again toNihon University.. I promise that I will develop and upgrade myself, especially in Japanese language which is the main language for communication here,” he added.
