Medical Student from George Washington University attend an elective program at the Khon Kaen University


Ms. Elizabeth Brunn and Ms. Kathleen Bren are second year medical students from George Washington University, USA. They attended elective rotations in the Departments of Pediatrics, Orthopedics and Obstetrics and Gynecology during June and July of 2012.

This program for exchange students is under the collaboration between George Washington University, USA, and the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University which established since 2010.

Elizabeth is from New York, USA. She graduated from Colgate University with a concentration degree in Cellular Neuroscience in 2009. She then researched breast cancer at Memorial Sloan Kettering cancer Center, and was a dermatology medical assistant in NYC before attending George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in 2011. She has studied internationally in Kenya and South Africa, but this is her first medical trip to Thailand.

Kathleen is from Washington DC, USA. She graduated from Cornell University in 2008 with a degree in Animal Science. She did research in autoimmunity at the National Institutes of Health before entering medical school at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in August of 2011. She studied abroad in Sydney, Australia and loves to travel, but this is also her first time in Thailand.

Kate and Liz are very excited to be welcomed to Khon Kaen University. They are having so much fun exploring the town and new foods. The staff have been extremely hospitable and they appreciate speaking English when they are present. They promise to learn as much Thai as possible before they leave.
