Canadian Medical Students from Dalhousie University attend an elective program at the KKU PDF Print E-mail

On June 25, 2012, Associate Professor Surapol Virasiri, MD, Associate Dean for Quality Improvement, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, Thailand,  welcomed and gave an orientation to five medical students from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, namely, Ms. Lyndsay Russell; Ms. Jocelyn Stairs; Ms. Augstine Haley; Ms. Carolyn Reardon; Ms. Hyehyun Paek The students are attending the Elective Exchange Student Program at the MD-KKU (Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatrics) between June 25 and July 27, 2012. They are second and third year medical students in a 4-year medical training program.  Before becoming medical students, they all graduated from bachelor or master degree programs.  The students are highly qualified in various academic fields.

· Ms. Lyndsay Russell from Moncton city, New Brunswick Province (located in Eastern Canada), graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from Dalhousie University in 2010.

· Ms. Jocelyn Stairs from Halifax, Nova Scotia graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences from Queen’s University, located in Kingston, Ontario, in 2011.

· Ms. Haley Augustine from Toronto, Ontario graduated with a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from Dalhousie University in 2011.

· Ms. Carolyn Reardon from Halifax, Nova Scotia graduated with a Masters of Science in Environment and International Development from London School of Economics and Political Sciences in 2009.

· Ms. Hyehyun Paek from Halifax, Nova Scotia graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Dalhousie University in 2008.

Upon arriving in Khon Kaen, the Canadian students met two fellow international medical students from George Washington University, located in Washington D.C., USA.  The students plan to join together for studies and cultural sightseeing throughout Thailand.  They are excited to exchange knowledge with Thai medical students and experience Thai culture.  Reported by Duangsamorn Chankwang, Head, International Affairs Office, MD-KKU.
