The Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University held The 4th KKU International Engineering Conference  (KKU-IENC 2012) entitled, “Driving Together Towards ASEAN Economic Community” on May 10-12, 2012. 

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somnuk Theerakulpisut, the Faculty Dean and Chair of the Event said, “The 4th KKU International Engineering Conference (KKU-IENC 2012) was held as a venue for academics and researchers in all engineering fields, sciences, and technology to exchange knowledge and experience in research. Participants who presented their articles and research work at this conference disseminated the knowledge for application in broader circles both domestically and internationally. There were over 300 participants, 100 coming from 15 countries overseas.”

 1. Energy Cooperation under AEC 2015 by Dr. Naukhun Sitthipong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy

 2. The Lao PDR experiences and ways forward by H.E. Viraphonh VIRAVONG, Deputy Ministry of Energy and Mines, Lao PDR

        3. A special speech by Dr. Somkiat Onwimol, a mass media academic and the chief executive officer (CEO) of Thai Withat Co.Ltd.  

 4. A special speech by Prof. Kuniaki Dohda, Northwestern University, USA

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somnuk added that the KKU-IENC is held every 2 years from the agreement made at the international conference, “the 3rd Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development 2010 (TISD 2010)”. KKU-IENC 2012 this year was under the theme, “Driving together towards ASEAN Economic Community” to respond to Thailand’s policy to enter ASEAN Community in 2015. It supported and encouraged researchers in Asia and other countries worldwide to collaborate more. At this conference, over 293 articles were submitted from 15 countries. Out of this number, 187 articles were selected for presentation: 132 articles from Thai institutions and 55 from abroad. Also at the conference, the Faculty of Engineering was honored to be certified and supported academically by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Thailand Section (IEEE Thailand Section) and Thailand Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), a renowned and world accepted association in sciences and technology.
